Grizzly

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Grizzly (Grisly being more appropriate) begins at the mouth of Provo Canyon, heads up the canyon to Canyon Glen, and then up to the Pipeline. At the Pipeline continue up Provo Canyon until you come to the steep fire road up the side of the mountain. Follow this fire road to the top, and then run back towards the mouth of the Provo Canyon. At the top of the cliffs near the mouth of Provo Canyon, double back along the path and down to the Provo Canyon Trail.

CAUTION: There are cliffs with long drop offs along parts of this route!

DISTANCE: miles.

Beginning of Grizzly!

Heading up Provo Canyon, along the Provo River Trail, is this water fountain. Keep going.
Mt. Timpanogos, as seen from the Provo River Trail.
The Provo River Trail as it continues up the canyon.
At the Canyon Glen picnic area, go up the mountain trail on your left to the Pipeline. Note: There is a water fountain at this spot.
Run "up" Provo Canyon along the path (away from the Pipeline) - there are drop-offs along this section, so be careful.
One of the drop-offs along the trail to Grizzly.
The trail just before Grizzly. Look for the two iron posts.
The portal to Grizzly. As soon as you pass through the gate - run as hard as you can!
Here's an example of Grizzly. However, the photo doesn't do it justice - Grizzly is "much" steeper than it appears here.
Grizzly continues........
And continues.....
And continues.....
Looking behind - don't stop now, you're almost near the top.
Top of Grizzly - at the rocks on the right.
Continue on the trail ahead.
One of the many spectacular views from Grizzly. When you come to a steep ravine, take the road to your left. For a longer run, continue on the road ahead and you'll come out above WordPerfect.
The quick way back to Canyon Glen and the Provo River Trail - at the bottom of this steep road, turn left on the dirt trail.
The trail comes to the end of the Pipeline and continues down to Canyon Glen to the Provo River Trail.
